Verdacert provides certified translations for immigration, legal, and academic documents, with native-speaker review on every file and turnaround times as fast as 14 hours. We are looking for a Legal Kannada Translator to join our reviewer network, producing certified English translations of Kannada-language documents that meet USCIS and other official filing standards.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and academic documents from Kannada into English (and vice versa where needed), including birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, transcripts, and affidavits
- Review machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names, dates, and numbers
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation, in line with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) requirements
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the final certified PDF
- Meet delivery deadlines ranging from standard (48 hours) to rush (as fast as 14 hours)
- Flag ambiguous source content, illegible text, or inconsistencies to the project lead before certification
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Kannada and English, with strong legal and civil-document vocabulary in both languages
- Experience translating official documents such as birth/marriage certificates, court records, or academic transcripts
- Familiarity with certified translation standards and certification statement requirements for immigration or legal filings
- Strong attention to detail, especially with names, dates, numbers, and transliteration conventions
- Ability to work within tight, deadline-driven turnaround windows
- Comfortable reviewing and editing machine-translated drafts for accuracy
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS, court, or embassy filing requirements
- Background in legal, paralegal, or certified translation services
- Experience with regional Kannada dialects or Karnataka civil registry document conventions
