Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translation services, with a focus on languages and document conventions from the MENA region and beyond, delivered by native-speaker reviewers under tight, guaranteed turnaround times. We are expanding our language coverage and are looking for a Legal Khmer Translator to review, translate, and certify Khmer-language documents to the same rigorous standard our reviewers apply across our other supported languages.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and immigration-related documents between Khmer and English, including birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, and academic transcripts
- Review machine-generated first-draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names, dates, and numbers
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy of each translation in accordance with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified translation
- Flag discrepancies, ambiguities, or errors found in source documents
- Meet delivery deadlines ranging from standard to rush turnaround windows
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Khmer and strong command of professional/legal English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or immigration documents
- Familiarity with Cambodian civil registry documents, court records, and academic credentialing conventions
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with proper nouns, transliteration, and numerical data
- Ability to work independently and meet firm deadlines
- Comfortable signing formal certification statements and being named as the responsible reviewer on delivered documents
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS-related document certification or immigration law contexts
- Experience with Cambodian regional dialects or provincial document variants
- Background in legal or paralegal translation work
