Verdacert is a US-based certified translation service specializing in MENA-region civil and legal documents for immigration, court, university, and medical use. We're looking for a Legal Punjabi Translator to join our reviewer network, translating and certifying Punjabi-language documents into English to meet USCIS and legal filing standards.

What you'll do

• Translate legal and civil documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, affidavits, police clearances, and similar) from Punjabi into English
• Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithfulness to the source document
• Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, dates, and places consistent with filing requirements (e.g., I-130 spelling)
• Sign certification statements attesting to translation accuracy in accordance with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
• Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified translation
• Flag documents with ambiguous content, regional dialect variation, or unclear source scans for additional review

What we're looking for

• Native or near-native fluency in Punjabi (Gurmukhi and/or Shahmukhi script) and professional fluency in English
• Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or court documents
• Strong understanding of legal and civil document terminology in both languages
• Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
• Ability to work within defined turnaround windows (as fast as 14 hours for rush requests)
• Comfort working independently and asynchronously as part of a reviewer network

Nice to have

• Prior experience with USCIS-related translation or immigration document requirements
• Familiarity with Urdu, given cross-referencing needs between Punjabi and Urdu civil documents
• Certification or credentials in translation (e.g., ATA certification)
