Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with a focus on native-speaker review and fast turnaround. We're looking for a Legal Serbian Translator to join our reviewer network, translating official Serbian-language documents into English for use in immigration cases, legal proceedings, and other formal filings.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and academic documents (birth and marriage certificates, court records, diplomas, affidavits, and similar) from Serbian into English
- Review machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and dates
- Sign a certification statement attesting that each translation is a true, complete, and accurate rendering of the original
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the final certified PDF
- Flag inconsistencies, unclear source text, or missing information back to the client or project lead
- Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited same-day or rush requests when assigned
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Serbian and English, with strong command of legal and civil document terminology
- Experience translating official documents such as birth/marriage certificates, court judgments, or academic transcripts
- Familiarity with certified translation standards and attestation requirements for immigration or legal filings
- Meticulous attention to detail, particularly with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work within tight, firm deadlines without sacrificing accuracy
- Comfortable reviewing both digital and scanned/handwritten source documents
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS-related translation certification requirements (e.g., 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3))
- Background in Balkan regional document conventions or cross-referencing with related South Slavic languages
- Experience working with translation review or quality-assurance workflows
