Notarized translations, without a trip to the notary.
Add notarization to any certified translation at checkout. A Verdacert officer swears to the translation's accuracy in an affidavit, a commissioned US notary notarizes it over a recorded video session, and you receive the notarized PDF, usually within three business days after the certified PDF. $29.95 covers every document on the order.
How a notarized translation is made
- You order. Upload your documents, choose a speed, and tick Notarization in the add-ons step of the order form.
- We certify. Your certified translation is delivered as a PDF on the speed you chose, as on every order. You can use it right away wherever notarization isn't required.
- An officer swears to it. A Verdacert officer signs an affidavit attesting to the translation's accuracy, and a commissioned US notary notarizes it over a recorded video session.
- You receive the notarized PDF. One for each document: the certified translation with the notarized affidavit attached, emailed to you usually within three business days after the certified PDF.
What a notary adds, and what it doesn't
A notary checks who signed the affidavit, watches them sign and applies a seal. The notary doesn't read the translation or vouch for its accuracy: that is what the certification does. Notarization proves the person named on the affidavit really signed it.
So the translation is the same either way. Order notarization when the office you're sending it to asks for it, and skip it when it doesn't.
Who asks for a notarized translation
- USCIS: no. A certified translation is the whole requirement.
- Immigration court (EOIR): no. A certified translation with the translator's statement of competence and accuracy is enough.
- State courts and state agencies: sometimes. Rules vary by state and by court, so check the filing instructions or ask the clerk.
- DMVs, schools and employers: usually a certified translation; a few ask for notarization.
- Universities and credential evaluators: usually a certified translation. Check the evaluator's requirements for how it must be sent.
- Foreign consulates and documents going abroad: often, and sometimes an apostille on top of it.
What a notarized translation costs
The translation is priced per page. Notarization is one price for the whole order, because one notary session takes every document's affidavit.
| Price | What it covers | |
|---|---|---|
| Certified translation | From $22.95/page | 48 hours at Standard, 24 at Express, 14 at Rush. Legal and other complex documents are $32.95/page. |
| Notarization | $29.95 an order | Every document on the order, each with its own notarized affidavit, as a PDF. |
| Signed hardcopy (optional) | From $9.95 plus postage | The certified translation printed, signed in ink and mailed. It isn't the notarized copy. |
| Apostille, for use abroad | $149.95 a document | An ink notarization in Pennsylvania and the state's apostille, mailed with the hardcopy. Includes the notarization. |
Your exact total, add-ons included, shows on the order form before you pay.
Three things to check before you order
- Will it take a PDF? The notarized translation is an electronically notarized PDF. A mailed hardcopy is the ink-signed certified translation, not a notarized one: an online notarization has no paper original. If the office insists on paper with an ink seal, ask whether it accepts an electronically notarized document.
- Whose signature? The affidavit is signed by a Verdacert officer, not by the individual translator. If an office requires the translator's own signature to be notarized, check with it before ordering.
- Whose translation? We notarize our own certified translations. We can't notarize your original document or a translation someone else made.
