Legal Telugu Translator
About the role
Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with a focus on native-speaker review and fast turnaround. We are looking for a Legal Telugu Translator to join our network of reviewers, translating and certifying legal and civil documents from Telugu into English (and vice versa) to meet the accuracy and formatting standards USCIS and other official bodies require.
What you'll do
- Translate legal and civil documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court filings, academic transcripts, affidavits, and similar) between Telugu and English
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithfulness to the source document
- Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, dates, and places consistent with official filing requirements
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the translated deliverable
- Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited same-day or rush requests when assigned
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Telugu and strong command of English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or official documents
- Familiarity with legal and administrative terminology in both languages
- Strong attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numeric data
- Ability to work independently against firm deadlines
- Comfortable reviewing and correcting machine-assisted translation drafts
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS, immigration, or court-related translation work
- Certification or credentials in translation or interpretation
- Experience with Indian civil registry documents and regional Telugu dialects
