Legal Tibetan Translator
About the role
Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translation services, with native-speaker reviewers who specialize in documents from the MENA region and beyond. We're looking for a Legal Tibetan Translator to join our reviewer network, translating civil, legal, and immigration-related documents from Tibetan into English with the accuracy and formatting required for official submission.
What you'll do
- Translate legal and civil documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, academic transcripts, and similar) from Tibetan into English
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithfulness to the source document
- Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, dates, and places consistent with client filing requirements
- Sign certification statements attesting to translation accuracy in accordance with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the final translated file
- Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited and rush deliveries when assigned
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Tibetan and English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or immigration-related documents
- Strong understanding of Tibetan civil registry, legal, and academic document conventions
- Comfort reviewing and correcting machine-translated drafts for accuracy
- Meticulous attention to detail with names, dates, numbers, and official terminology
- Ability to meet firm deadlines, including same-day or rush requests when needed
Nice to have
- Prior experience providing certified translations for USCIS, courts, or academic institutions
- Familiarity with Tibetan regional dialects and document variations
- Experience working with refugee, asylum, or humanitarian parole case documentation
