About the role

Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration, legal, academic, and medical documents, with a strong focus on languages spoken across the MENA region and beyond. We're looking for a Legal Hungarian Translator to join our network of native-speaker reviewers, translating and certifying Hungarian-language documents to meet USCIS and other official filing standards.

What you'll do

Translate Hungarian civil, legal, and academic documents (birth/marriage certificates, court records, transcripts, affidavits, and similar) into English
Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and proper nouns
Sign certification statements affirming translations are true, complete, and accurate, consistent with 8 CFR § 103.2(b)(3)
Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified output
Meet defined turnaround windows (standard, express, and rush) without sacrificing accuracy
Flag ambiguous source content, illegible text, or inconsistencies for clarification before certification

What we're looking for

Native or near-native fluency in Hungarian and strong command of English
Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or immigration-related documents
Familiarity with certified translation standards and certification statement requirements
Strong attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
Ability to work within tight, defined deadlines across a queue of documents
Comfortable reviewing machine-translated drafts and editing for precision rather than translating fully from scratch

Nice to have

Experience with Hungarian civil registry or court document conventions
Prior work on USCIS, immigration court, or asylum-related filings
Familiarity with transliteration standards for names on immigration forms (e.g., I-130 spelling conventions)
