Legal Italian Translator
About the role
Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations of civil and legal documents, with a focus on the MENA region, delivered to individuals and law firms across the US. We are looking for a Legal Italian Translator to join our reviewer network and translate legal and civil documents from Italian into English, ensuring every translation meets the certification standard our clients rely on for USCIS, court, and other official filings.
What you'll do
- Translate legal and civil documents (court records, contracts, birth/marriage certificates, academic transcripts, and similar filings) from Italian into English
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names, dates, and numbers
- Apply consistent legal and civil-document terminology in line with certification requirements
- Sign the certification statement attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the final deliverable
- Meet defined turnaround windows for standard, express, and rush orders
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Italian, with excellent written English skills
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or court documents
- Strong attention to detail, especially with names, dates, numbers, and official terminology
- Familiarity with Italian civil registry and court document conventions
- Ability to work within tight, clearly defined deadlines
- Comfort reviewing and correcting machine-translated drafts
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS-certified or notarized translation work
- Background in legal studies, paralegal work, or certified translation credentials
- Experience with immigration, court, or academic document types
