Desktop Publishing (DTP) Specialist

About the role

Verdacert is a certified translation company serving USCIS filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with deep expertise in Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Urdu, Turkish, and other MENA-region languages. We're looking for a Desktop Publishing (DTP) Specialist to ensure that every translated document reproduces the layout, formatting, and visual fidelity of the original source file, so the finished certified PDF looks indistinguishable from the source document it was translated from.

What you'll do

  • Format translated documents to match the layout, structure, and visual presentation of the original source files, including tables, stamps, seals, and signature blocks
  • Prepare bilingual and side-by-side document layouts that preserve a 1:1 correspondence between original and translated content
  • Work with right-to-left (RTL) scripts such as Arabic, Farsi, Dari, and Pashto alongside left-to-right English text
  • Perform quality checks on final PDFs to catch formatting errors, missing content, or misalignment before delivery
  • Collaborate with translators and reviewers to resolve layout issues caused by text expansion, contraction, or script differences
  • Maintain consistent formatting standards and templates across document types (birth certificates, transcripts, court records, and more)

What we're looking for

  • Experience with desktop publishing or document formatting software such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, or Microsoft Word/Publisher
  • Demonstrated ability to work with RTL and bilingual document layouts
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to catch discrepancies between source and translated documents
  • Comfort working with scanned documents, images, and PDFs of varying quality
  • Ability to meet tight turnaround deadlines in a production environment
  • Basic understanding of document types used in immigration, legal, academic, or medical contexts

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Urdu, or Turkish script conventions
  • Prior experience in a translation, localization, or legal document production environment
  • Experience preparing documents for regulatory or certification requirements
