Legal Zomi Translator
About the role
Verdacert is a certified translation company serving USCIS filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with particular depth in MENA-region languages. We're looking for a Legal Zomi Translator to join our roster of native-speaker reviewers, translating legal and civil documents between Zomi and English with the accuracy and consistency that immigration, court, and institutional reviewers require.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and personal documents (such as birth certificates, marriage records, court filings, and academic transcripts) between Zomi and English
- Review and certify translations for completeness and accuracy, ensuring names, dates, and figures are transcribed exactly as they appear in the source
- Apply standard transliteration conventions for proper nouns where no direct English equivalent exists
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the translated output
- Sign certification statements attesting to translation accuracy and completeness
- Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited and rush requests
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Zomi and professional fluency in English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or official documents
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working with formal legal and regulatory language
- Familiarity with document types such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, court records, and academic transcripts
- Ability to work within tight, deadline-driven turnaround windows
- Comfort signing formal certification statements attesting to translation accuracy
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS-related translation certification requirements
- Experience translating for asylum, humanitarian parole, or immigration court cases
- Familiarity with regional Zomi dialect variation as it appears in official documents
