Legal Armenian Translator
About the role
Verdacert provides certified translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with a focus on native-speaker review and fast turnaround. We are hiring a Legal Armenian Translator to join our reviewer network, producing accurate, certified translations of civil, legal, and academic documents between Armenian and English that meet USCIS and other official filing standards.
What you'll do
- Translate legal and civil documents (birth, marriage, and divorce certificates, court records, affidavits, academic transcripts, and related filings) between Armenian and English
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithfulness to the source document
- Apply correct transliteration conventions for names, dates, and places consistent with official filing requirements
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the final certified deliverable
- Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited same-day or rush requests when assigned
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Armenian and professional fluency in English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or academic documents
- Strong attention to detail, especially with names, dates, numbers, and official terminology
- Familiarity with certified translation standards and certification statement requirements (e.g., USCIS 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3))
- Ability to work independently and meet tight, deadline-driven turnaround times
- Comfort working with digital document formats (PDF, scanned images) and remote review tools
Nice to have
- Experience translating documents for immigration, court, or humanitarian parole cases
- Familiarity with Armenian regional dialects or document conventions from specific jurisdictions
- Prior work as a certified or sworn translator
