Legal Quechua Translator
About the role
Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with native-speaker review on every document. We are looking for a Legal Quechua Translator to join our network of reviewers, translating civil, legal, and personal documents from Quechua into English (and vice versa) to support clients filing with USCIS, courts, and other institutions.
What you'll do
- Translate legal and civil documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court filings, affidavits, and related materials) between Quechua and English
- Review machine-generated draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and terminology
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation, consistent with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) requirements
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified translation
- Flag ambiguous source content, illegible text, or regional dialect variations that could affect accuracy
- Meet turnaround commitments ranging from standard to rush delivery windows
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Quechua (please specify variant/dialect, e.g., Southern Quechua, Cusco, Ayacucho, Kichwa) and English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or immigration-related documents
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with names, dates, and numerical data
- Familiarity with certified translation standards and certification statement requirements
- Ability to work within defined turnaround deadlines, including occasional rush requests
- Comfortable reviewing both human and machine-generated draft translations
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS, court, or immigration-related translation work
- Familiarity with Quechua-speaking regions' civil registry and documentation conventions
- Certification or credentials in translation or interpretation
