Legal Slovak Translator
About the role
Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translations for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation, with a focus on native-speaker review and fast turnaround. We're looking for a Legal Slovak Translator to join our reviewer network, delivering accurate, certified translations of Slovak-language documents for use in official filings.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and administrative documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court judgments, academic transcripts, and similar) between Slovak and English
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names and official terminology
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the certified deliverable
- Meet defined turnaround windows for standard, express, and rush orders
- Flag inconsistencies, illegible text, or ambiguous source content before certification
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Slovak and English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal or civil documents, ideally with certified translation experience
- Strong knowledge of Slovak civil registry, court, and academic document conventions
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and official terminology
- Ability to work within strict deadlines, including expedited turnaround requests
- Comfort reviewing and correcting machine-translated drafts rather than translating from scratch
Nice to have
- Experience with USCIS or other immigration-related document translation
- Familiarity with notarization or apostille processes
- Prior work as a certified or sworn translator
