Legal Spanish Translator
About the role
Verdacert is a US-based certified translation company specializing in MENA-region languages, with Spanish also among the languages it supports. We're looking for a Legal Spanish Translator to produce accurate, certification-ready English translations of legal and civil documents for use in immigration filings, courts, and other official proceedings. This role requires close attention to legal terminology, formatting fidelity, and the certification standards that receiving institutions require.
What you'll do
- Translate legal and civil documents from Spanish into English, including court records, contracts, birth and marriage certificates, and related filings
- Review and edit machine-generated draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and legal terminology
- Apply correct transliteration and formatting conventions for names, dates, and official seals
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation
- Preserve original document layout and structure in the certified deliverable
- Meet defined turnaround deadlines for standard, rush, and same-day orders
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, court, or civil documents
- Strong working knowledge of legal terminology and document conventions across Spanish-speaking jurisdictions
- Meticulous attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work within tight, deadline-driven turnaround windows
- Comfort reviewing and editing AI-generated draft translations rather than translating fully from scratch
Nice to have
- Certification or accreditation from a recognized translation body
- Prior experience providing certified translations for USCIS, immigration, or court submissions
- Familiarity with regional dialect variation across Latin America and Spain
