Legal Nepali Translator
About the role
Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translation services, with native-speaker reviewers producing certified documents for immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical providers. We're looking for a Legal Nepali Translator to join our reviewer network, translating and certifying documents between Nepali and English for use in official filings such as USCIS immigration cases, court proceedings, and academic applications.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and academic documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, transcripts, and similar) between Nepali and English
- Review machine-generated draft translations for accuracy, completeness, and faithful transliteration of names, dates, and numbers
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation, consistent with USCIS requirements under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
- Preserve the original document layout and formatting in the certified translation
- Flag ambiguous source content, unclear handwriting, or inconsistencies that could affect accuracy
- Meet defined turnaround windows for standard, express, and rush orders
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Nepali and strong command of professional/legal English
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or official documents
- Familiarity with Nepali civil registry documents, court records, or academic credentials and their conventions
- Strong attention to detail, especially with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work within tight, defined deadlines
- Comfort reviewing and correcting machine-translated drafts
Nice to have
- Prior experience providing certified translations for USCIS or US court filings
- Background in immigration, legal, or academic translation services
- Familiarity with transliteration conventions for Nepali names into English
