Legal Fula (Pular) Translator
About the role
Verdacert provides USCIS-certified translation services, with native-speaker reviewers delivering certified translations for Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, and dozens of other languages used in immigration filings, court proceedings, university applications, and medical documentation. We are looking for a Legal Fula (Pular) Translator to join our reviewer network and provide accurate, certified translations of legal and civil documents for clients navigating immigration and legal processes.
What you'll do
- Translate legal, civil, and immigration-related documents (birth certificates, marriage records, court documents, affidavits, academic transcripts, and similar) between Fula (Pular) and English
- Review and edit machine-generated first drafts for accuracy, completeness, and fidelity to the source document
- Apply standard transliteration conventions for proper nouns and ensure names, dates, and numbers are transcribed exactly as they appear in the original
- Sign certification statements attesting to the accuracy and completeness of each translation, consistent with 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3)
- Preserve original document layout and formatting in the translated output
- Meet defined turnaround windows, including expedited same-day or rush requests when assigned
What we're looking for
- Native or near-native fluency in Fula (Pular) and English, with strong command of formal and legal register in both languages
- Demonstrated experience translating legal, civil, or government documents
- Familiarity with the document conventions and civil registry formats of Fula-speaking regions
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with names, dates, and numerical data
- Ability to work within firm deadlines, including rush and same-day turnaround requests
- Comfort reviewing and editing machine-assisted translation drafts
Nice to have
- Prior experience with USCIS, court, or immigration-related translation certification requirements
- Additional language pairs relevant to West African immigration or asylum cases
- Background in paralegal, legal interpreting, or certified translation work
